Story Description
Man of Mystery was inspired by a fabulous holiday spent in Normandy and Brittany, with their intriguing and beautiful locations like Saint- Malo and Mont Saint-Michel. It was a real pleasure to write as I recalled memories, shared with my husband and children, of these wonderful places. Although I would describe the novel as ‘clean’ it still contains passion, along with pain, especially when Joanna discovers Jake, the man of her dreams, has feet of clay. As always with my books, the story seems to reveal itself as I write, and hopefully this brings a measure of the unexpected which will make readers want to know what happens next. The book has been wonderfully narrated by Mary Philips of Riveting Narration for Audiobooks. I just love the various accents and emphasis she uses, while reading at an ideal speed to keep listeners engaged and enthusiastic. |
Here are a few tasters from various chapters
Chapter 1. Why does Joanne find herself watching a guy with an intrusive and impertinent blue stare, especially as he appears to be a penniless drifter? And why, when she has dismissed him as dangerous and not of her class, does fate intervene to force them together?
Chapter 3. Why should she be strangely attracted to Jake, when he is so eminently unsuitable? Will she be able to resist his strong personality and masculinity?
Chapter 6. Will Joanne ever recover when she discovers the web of lies and deliberate deceit he has spun?
Chapter 8. How will she deliver her retribution? Will it be as satisfying as she hopes?
Chapter 10. Now that would be telling!

5.0 out of 5 stars Man of Mystery

This is a good read. The characters are believable, and the story keeps you involved throughout. The locations are interesting, especially the part which is set in France, reminding me of holidays I have spent there in the past. I am looking forward to reading other books by the same author.
